While the logline may suggest the opportunity for a punishingly mournful film based on my own experience with death and loss, “Thunder” is actually a coming of age, dramatic feature film, shot with a stylistic formal approach. The film deals with themes of identity, family, and fear.
Grief is a universal theme. Typically, these types of films are done with dreary melodrama. There actually is beauty and opportunity for growth within grief. Those sides are not usually depicted on film, but will be explored in this story.
(Think “Martha Marcy May Marlene” meets “Ida”)
